It’s no secret that singing has a hugely positive impact on your wellbeing. Whether you sing in the car, in the shower, whilst you wash the dishes or as part of a choir or organised group, you’ll probably find you feel better for spending some time singing! 🎶
Evidence shows that there are five steps that you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. At Love Soul Choir, we’re really proud that the service we offer to our members supports every one of these five steps. Let’s take a closer look…
Connecting and feeling a sense of belonging is really important for your mental wellbeing. Joining any sort of activity where you can share positive experiences with others or connect over a shared passion is a great way to achieve this. Our members are all connected by their love of singing and music and we come together to create an amazing sound.
The experience of performing with Love Soul Choir is a really unifying experience as it’s the result of working hard as a team to learn lyrics, harmonies and choreography. There’s an amazing atmosphere at performances because of the feeling of connection that is created. It’s a feeling like no other.
Get active 😅
Being active is also great for physical and mental health. At Love Soul Choir, one of the things that sets us apart from other groups is our choreography. We’re always looking to raise the bar for choreography and this can be quite demanding. We love that this makes our sessions pretty active. This gives members who might not have had another opportunity in their day to move, the chance to do so.

Paying attention to the preset moment is hugely beneficial to feeling more positive about life. Being in a rehearsal room listening to beautiful harmonies or on stage at a performance, noticing a child dancing or a round of applause, is a great opportunity to be more mindful.
We also encourage members to take part in ‘Focus Time’ at our sessions. It’s an opportunity to spend 20 minutes focussing on whatever we’re learning and we’ve had some lovely feedback from members about how beneficial this has been.
Learning a new skill is great for building self confidence and giving you a sense of purpose. Being part of a choir like Love Soul Choir means constantly having the chance to learn new things. From learning the lyrics to a song or finally getting a tricky section of harmony or choreography right, we know our members get a lot of satisfaction from the learning process at Love Soul Choir. The act of giving and kindness can help your mental wellness as this creates positive feelings and helps you connect with others. We know that our members are really kind, caring and welcoming towards one another and this atmosphere is something we are extremely proud of.
We are also really proud of our Green Plan, our joint commitment to supporting and improving the planet we live on. We offer our members the chance to take part in beach and city cleans to work together and give back to the local community and wildlife. Events like this are also a really great opportunity to connect.
Looking after your mental wellness is an ongoing journey and we always want to do more to help our members feel well and happy more and more of the time. 💜
