Why did you first want to join a choir?

For many members, joining was about more than singing—it was about reclaiming time for themselves and finding joy again.

“When I moved back to Southampton after 10+ years away, I quickly realised how hard it can be to make new friends as an adult. My world had also been so wrapped up in motherhood that I’d almost forgotten who I was outside of that role.”
Natalie, Southampton Member

“Many years ago, suffering from depression, I took a leap of faith with a community choir to improve my mental health.”
Bev, Southampton Member

“To meet like-minded people and to do something just for me. Also to improve my confidence because I suffer with stage fright.”
Gemma, Southampton Member

You can read more about how choirs can improve mental wellbeing in this post on the benefits of joining a choir.
