Auditioning was one of the best and scariest things I’ve ever done, and I’m so glad I did.

I wish I could say that the audition process wasn’t scary, but for me, it was terrifying! l’d learnt the first verse and chorus of my chosen song, listened to it whenever I could and practiced in front of someone else. I sang. In front of someone! I was as prepared for the audition as I thought I could be, but then the nerves hit. To anyone one else who is thinking of auditioning I would say that it’s easy to tell yourself not to be nervous, but sometimes we can’t control these things! Despite my nerves and thinking I sounded like the seagull in The Little Mermaid, Dan was patient and easy going and really helped me relax (as much as was possible…). Afterwards I was convinced I hadn’t got through, but a couple of days later I received an email inviting me to my first session!

In retrospect the audition really needn’t have worried me as much as it did, and now I get to sing every week with an amazing group of people. The harmonies are worked out so expertly that every song sounds incredible. There’s nothing quite like sitting at the front of the choir and being hit with that wave of sound for the first time.

It was daunting at first walking into a room full of people who all seem to know each other, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming straight away. I cannot wait to perform in One Sound in May – I’m going big with my first performance with Love Soul Choir!

Auditioning was one of the best and scariest things I’ve ever done, and I’m so glad I did.
