‘Community’ is a big part of Love Soul Choir. In fact, it kind of defines us. We’re a group of people all connected by a shared passion for singing and music.
Over the last couple of months, we’ve been out and about connecting with the community in a number of ways. So today, we wanted to share a few of those with you. It feels a particularly fitting topic given that this week is Mental Health Awareness Week and given that connecting with other people and giving to others are two of the five ways to wellbeing set out by mental health charity, Mind.
Litter Picking 🗑️🌳
Our Green Plan is our commitment to supporting the natural world. It’s a big part of Love Soul Choir and supports our efforts to give back to both the community and to nature.
A couple of weeks ago, we hosted our first Green Plan event of 2024 – a litter pick at Southampton Common. Some of our members headed to the green space and spent some time picking up litter. It was a great way to spend a sunny Saturday morning and gave our members a chance to connect with each other too.
TV Appearances 🎬
Last summer, we took part in a very special filming project. We were invited to take part in the new series of ‘In For A Penny’ with Stephen Mulhern on ITV. We had an amazing time being part of the show and can’t wait to see our TV appearance soon. It’s always fun to do something different and to spread the word about Love Soul Choir! 💯
Performing at Fundraisers💓 🐶
Throughout the year, Love Soul Choir performs out in the community to support a range of causes and charities. Over the last few weeks, we’ve supported two very different fundraisers.
A couple of weeks ago, we performed as part of a ‘Musical Souls’ benefit gig. Musicians and artists across Southampton joined forces to raise awareness of a condition called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and to raise funds to support Olu Rowe and his family as he recovers from a life-saving liver transplant surgery. You can see more, or support the fundraiser by clicking here.
And just this weekend, we spent the morning performing at Castlepoint Shopping Park in Bournemouth. We were there supporting Marks and Spencer’s efforts to raise money for their local charity partner, Together Anything is Possible (T.A.P. Assistance Dogs). We even met some brilliant dogs too!
It always feels great to be connecting with a wide range of people within the community through music.
