A look back at Love Soul Choir in 2022! 🥰

December 19th, 2022

Wow, can you believe we’ve already made it to the end of 2022? It has been another fantastic year for Love Soul Choir. We’ve welcomed nearly 50 new members, learnt epic new songs, performed all over the South and built amazing friendships along the way. Let’s take a look back at some of our highlights.

Performances 🎤

2022 has been an amazing year for performances. We’ve performed at loads of incredible venues, from theatres and shopping centres to historic landmarks and sporting events too.

Our first performance of the year was at the London Landmarks Half Marathon. 35 of our singers travelled to London to provide encouragement for the half marathon runners and to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.

And from then on, the performances kept coming. In the spring and summer months, our members performed at Westquay Shopping Centre, at the ABP Southampton Marathon and Garmin New Forest Marathon. And more recently, we supported the Black History Month Gala at MAST Mayflower Studios and sang at a multi-choir event at the Tower of London.

One of our performance highlights has to be One Sound: Let’s Get Together. We collaborated with Sound Pop Academy and Sing Now Choir for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, all performing to each other at MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton. It was a really special afternoon where members could enjoy singing together in a theatre after two long long years.

And finally, we couldn’t not mention our Winter Show. A staple in the Love Soul Choir calendar, this year’s show was held at the beautiful Regent Theatre in Christchurch, Dorset. We performed 21 of our songs from artists including Dua Lipa, Backstreet Boys, Gloria Estefan and Earth, Wind & Fire. It was a truly incredible evening!

Filming Project 🌟

Back in April, we shared our version of Delta Goodrem’s ‘Keep Climbing’. We absolutely love the message of this song which is all about hope and finding inner-strength in tough times. The video had an amazing reaction when we shared it on social media, with even Delta Goodrem responding! You can watch the video here.

Going Green 🌎

Love Soul Choir is committed to improving the planet we live on. Our ‘Green Plan’ is all about encouraging our members to reduce their carbon footprints. One of things we do to support the natural world is to donate £2 per membership to the Trillion Trees initiative. In 2022, Love Soul Choir donated £2822 to Trillion Trees, helping protect and restore habitats around the world.

In the summer, we also organised our first beach clean. It was an awesome chance to spend time together as well as looking after our local wildlife. We had a fantastic afternoon by the sea, exploring the area and picking up litter. It was a really positive afternoon and left us feeling like we’d made a bit of a difference!

Social 🙋🏻‍♀️

At Love Soul Choir, we are passionate about creating an uplifting community for our members. Not only do our singers come together to learn harmonies and perform, Love Soul Choir is a place to make friends and meet like-minded individuals. This year, we hosted two socials to help our members connect with each other.

Our first social event of the year was our beach clean at Hengistbury Head in Christchurch. And last weekend, we hosted our final event of the year – our annual Christmas Social. A group of our members headed to Burley Manor in the New Forest to celebrate another amazing year and to finish 2022 in style!

It has been an incredibly busy year for Love Soul Choir, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store.
