At Love Soul Choir, we’ve always been proud of the fact that we are more than just a choir. Whilst our public performances are full of high energy vocals, epic dance moves and big stages, there’s a deeper side to our community that the audience doesn’t always see.

Our members are the heart and soul of everything we do and because of this we make it a priority to look after them and encourage members to look after themselves more too.

Following the success of our first Wellness Retreat in 2025, we recently teamed up with MARA to host this event again. It’s a day for singers to step away from the noise of daily life and find some headspace together.

A Phone Free Zone 📵

In a world where we’re all constantly on, this event is phone free.

It’s amazing what happens when you remove the temptation to scroll. Without the distraction of notifications, the energy in the room shifted. During the breaks, instead of everyone checking their notifications, there was actual, undistracted connection.

As one attendee, Jenny, put it: “It made me realise how reliant we are on our phones… it felt really positive not to have the distraction. I actually didn’t think about it at all, which was so freeing.”

The Power of a Silent Walk 🤫

The biggest hit of the day was undoubtedly the mindful Nature Walk. We spent a portion of the walk, walking together in total silence. No music, no podcasts, and of course, no phones.

It sounds simple, but for many of our members, it was a revelation. It forced members to actually notice the world around us – the sun on our faces and the quiet details of the woods that we’d usually rush past. It was a reminder that sometimes the best way to recharge isn’t by doing more, but by doing less.

Tools for the “Real World” 🔧

The retreat wasn’t just about a few hours of relaxation. It was about giving our community tools to take back into their everyday lives. 

We explored:

🫁 Breath-work & Meditation: Simple techniques to help quieten the overthinking that so many of us deal with on a daily basis.

🧘‍♀️ Mindful Movement: Discovering that showing up is more important than being perfect or flexible.

📝 Journalling: A chance to offload the hectic thoughts that can stay in our brains.

💖 Vulnerability: Creating a safe space where it’s okay to be honest about how we’re really feeling. 

The Results 📈

We love a bit of data, so we asked our attendees to rate their mood before and after the session. On average, wellbeing scores jumped from a 5.8 to a 9.1 out of 10 by the time we finished. That’s a 57% increase in the average mood score in just a few hours. Epic.

With a 100% recommendation rate, the feedback was clear… everyone left feeling more calm, more present, and more connected to the people around them.

Why We Do It? 🤷‍♂️

You might wonder why a choir spends time on breath work and forest walks. For us, the answer is easy: we want our members to feel happy and content in their lives.

But more than that, Love Soul Choir is about community. We want to provide a space where people feel supported, whether they’re performing on stage or navigating a stressful week at work.
